Commandments

We Value Godly Character We believe that our character should reflect God's redemption and restoration in our lives.  This is why we try to consistently live in humility, integrity, honesty and gentleness toward our family, our friends and our communities.

Psalm 119:58-60 58 I have sought your face with all my heart;     be gracious to me according to your promise. 59 I have considered my ways     and have turned my steps to your statutes. 60 I will hasten and not delay     to obey your commands.

The Law of Moses Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy Over 600 Commandments Given to the Israelites

The Israelites 215 Years among the Egyptians God Called the Out into the Desert Gave them the Commandments Most Famous being “The Ten Commandments”

Deuteronomy:22:6-7 6 If you come across a bird’s nest beside the road, either in a tree or on the ground, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, do not take the mother with the young. 7 You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go, so that it may go well with you and you may have a long life.

Exodus 20:3 3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

Exodus 20:4-6 4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.5 You shall not bow down to them…

Exodus 20:3-6 3“You shall have no other gods before me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.5 You shall not bow down to them…

Exodus 20:12 12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

Mark 7:9-10 9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’

Mark 7:11-12 11 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)— 12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

Exodus 20:13 13 “You shall not murder.

Exodus 20:14 14 “You shall not commit adultery.

Exodus 20:15 15 “You shall not steal.

Exodus 20:16 16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

Exodus 20:17 17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

Deuteronomy 5:21 21“You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

Exodus 20:13-16 13 “You shall not murder. 14 “You shall not commit adultery. 15 “You shall not steal. 16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

Exodus 20:17 17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

Matthew 5:27 27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Matthew 23:25-26 25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Ephesians 4:20-24 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Psalm 119:58-60 58 I have sought your face with all my heart;     be gracious to me according to your promise. 59 I have considered my ways     and have turned my steps to your statutes. 60 I will hasten and not delay     to obey your commands.
