Stream Drainage

THE INFLUENCE OF BEDROCK IN AN AREA WILL CAUSE STREAMS TO DRAIN IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT PATTERNS.

A UNIQUE PATTERN CAN BE SEEN FROM OVER-HEAD THESE PATTERNS ARE CALLED: DRAINAGE PATTERNS They are created because water always flows from higher elevations to lower elevations. Water tends to collect in lower areas creating rivers. The water that feeds into the rivers are known as the tributaries.
