How do we mark the coursework? L/O: To understand what makes a good and bad coursework essay by marking other people´s work. Plan of essay – due in Tuesday 14th October Were Mao Zedong´s policies after he came to power significant for China?

What are we looking for? – breadth, depth, accuracy and of knowledge and information used relevance – command and understanding of the history topic – relevant deployment (writing) and organisation of information – focus on the question – understanding of significance – ability to use relevantly an understanding of causes, change, key characteristics of the time, links and comparisons – ability to construct and support descriptions, explanations, arguments and judgements – ability to reach and support conclusions. KNOWELDGE / CONTEXT STRUCTURE RELEVANCE SIGNIFICANCE LINKS EVIDENCE CONCLUSIONS

Were Mao Zedong´s policies after he came to power significant for China? 1) Look through the mark scheme for level 4 and level 5 Underline which parts of the mark scheme are looking for the particular skills. 2) Read through the China essay as a class and for each part discuss what they do well and what they do not.
