Presentation transcript:

Energy means the ability to do work Nothing can stop ENERGY Energy is done when FORCE moves on an object (work) Running requires energy Gravity pulls objects back to Earth (FORCE: Push/pull) Yo-yo=needs a push or pull to WORK. You can make different types of energy

Different Types of Energy Light – energy traveling in a straight line Heat-energy of moving particles Sound-made through vibrations Electrical- Charges that flow from one place to the next Mechanical-kinetic-energy moving Potential-energy stored

Motion and Position Motion-the movement of an object at any given time. Position-the location of an object Gravity- a force that pulls down on an object Friction- a force that opposes or stops motion

Weather is the change in climate caused by wind Everyday the weather changes A meteorologist is someone who studies the weather forecast Tools we use are wind vanes, thermometer, and compass Heat from the sun powers the water cycle Evaporation is when water vapor (gas) from the heat of the sun. Rain, snow, sleet, and hail are forms of precipitation

Systems System- All parts that work together to function Conductors- allow energy to flow through easily. Ex. metals Insulators- do not allow energy to flow through easily. Ex. Rubber or plastic

FLOW OF ENERGY Metal/wire is the conductor Rubber-is the insulator Battery is the main source of energy

Closed circuit-energy flows through easily to work Open circuit-energy can not be transferred as easily
