Body Paragraph #4 Refutation Paragraph– States your opposition’s side and counters their argument with logic.

Body Paragraph #4 Topic Sentence: State your opposition’s claim and explain their side. Provide at least 2 CQE’s (Context, Quote/Paraphrase, Explanation) explaining why your opposition is wrong. Provide a concluding sentence.

Conclusion Include these things in this order: Restate your position statement Restate your main 3 claims Provide a call to action– requesting your audience to do, think, or support something. Do NOT include any new information!!!

Sample concluding paragraph In summary, the death penalty should be abolished for many reasons. First, the death penalty can take and has taken many innocent lives. Second, the death penalty costs more than incarceration for life. Finally, the death penalty fails to give the offender a chance for rehabilitation or a change of heart. People should protest and get petitions signed in order get the United States to create an amendment or doctrine that abolishes the use of the death penalty anywhere in the United States. In doing this the United States could save lives, save money, and change lives of offenders for the better. (1,364)
