Welcome to Chemistry Class! Find your name on the brown clipboard near the entry door. Put a check mark by your name. Find your seat number. This is your assigned seat until I learn your names. Take an “exit ticket” from the basket. Write on it what your definition of chemistry is. Turn this in to your class drawer before you leave. Period 2

About Mrs. Soisson Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland, Chemical Engineering Master of Science from University of Houston (Clear Lake), Environmental Mgmt. Charged Up Latitude/Venue (we will use this daily) One 3-ring binder or very sturdy folder for all daily papers Calculator (needs to perform Scientific Notation) Pen/Pencil and Highlighters Glue Stick

Test/Major Grades 50% Daily Grades 45% Reading Grades 5% Quizzes, Lab safety, Lab Reports, Homework, etc. Reading Grades 5%

Classroom Rules Rules 1.) Be On Time! 2.) Be prepared and actively participating! 3.) Do your own work. Academic Integrity is required. Plagiarism and cheating will not be tolerated! 4.) Mutual respect among all (we are a class family!) 5.) Tablets, cell phones and electronic devices are only to be used when prior permission has been given! Look for Tech sign showing use of technology each day to know whether or not we will be using it *All School Rules will be enforced, see your handbook if you are confused on any school rule

Classroom Procedures Do behave safely at all times in the lab. (SAFETY IS THE #1 PRIORITY!) Do check the website each week. Do be in your assigned seat with all necessary materials on your desk working on your bell work before the bell rings. Do wait to be dismissed from class by your teacher. Do use the calculator and book that correspond to your seat number. Return them to correct location/position when you are finished. (ID required to “check-out”) Do respect the classroom supplies and equipment and CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF.

Classroom Procedures (Cont.) Do try to use the restroom in between classes. For emergencies sign out on clipboard. Do follow the 3-before-me rule. Ask 3 friends before asking me. Do bring your Latitude to class everyday. Only use with permission. (Look for sign) Do check the folders for make up work when you are absent. Do turn in all papers to the appropriate drawer for your class period.
