Green-Nomy ECO-CLUB PROJECT

waste? Waste is made up of things like peeling, cores and bones . 40% of food which is thrown away is fresh fruits and vegetables. Environmental costs of food waste are enormous. Green House Gas emissions are associated with food production, distribution and storage.

RELISH FOOD REFRAIN WASTE We all enjoy food which is delicious. Name some food items which you love the most? How much can we eat? Should we buy and store everything at one time? How can we cut down waste . Remember that food waste is the 3rd largest component of generated waste.

Steps to cut wastage. Shop more often but buy less. Let your snack box have food which is just sufficient for you. Do not waste. Ask your parents to buy only what you will definitely eat. Don’t go to shopping with your parents in an empty stomach. Avoid junk and sweets if you need to stay healthy. Buy food which has label like BEST BEFORE or USEBY DATE. Do not eat beyond the mentioned date as it may cause a serious problem to your health.

IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT If we stop wasting food we can prevent at least 15million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions each year. The food waste goes to the land fill sites and produces methane a green house gas more powerful than carbon dioxide.

We Eat To Live Not Live To Eat. To protect our security and save our planet ,let us reduce the waste by buying few products and only those which lasts longer. Our personal waste reduction can make a small impact onthe overall waste volumes.
