Brandi Smith, Taylor Sand, Megan MacDermaid Role of the Agency The American Red Cross exists to service in five main areas: Disaster relief Life saving blood International service Health and safety services Supporting America’s military family Personal Outcomes: -Interaction with health care professionals -Therapeutic communication Blood donation process Learning about the Red Cross Advise/ Mentoring: - Get involved with an organization that interests you, work with peers that share a similar work ethic, and learn as much as you can Nursing Program Outcomes: Professionalism: By following ethical principles and professional nursing standards Health Care Environment: We advocated to improve health care outcomes by out-sourcing to our community for blood donations Collaborative Leadership: Collaboration amongst health care professionals, the community and fellow nursing students to save lives Theory/ Evidence Based: Nola Pender’s Health Promotion Model  is defined as behavior motivated by the desire to increase well-being and actualize human health potential. It is an approach to community wellness.  Volunteer Role: Assisted in set up and take down of blood drive, advertisement, food donations, donor appointment times, donor registration, and well being of donors post blood donation.
