Unit 1 The importance of cells Standard 1: Conduct an investigation to provide evidence that living things are made of cells; either one cell or many different numbers and types of cells. Conducting an investigation What is an investigation? 2. What is a variable? 3. What is evidence? 4. What is data?

Planning and carrying out investigations builds on the use of multiple variables and on providing evidence to support explanations and/or solutions. Conducting an investigation produces data to serve as the basis for evidence to meet its goals.
