Legal Issues in the Digital Age Copyright The use of multimedia clips and information from the Internet has developed into entirely new and complex area of the law. Software Piracy The unauthorized copying of software. Privacy Technology has made the sharing of information simple and convenient. As a result, this same convenience can lead to inadvertent or intentional abuse. Copyright: People download songs, movies, etc through internet illegally. Software Piracy: copy and distribute software package or purchase one copy of software, then, make multiple copies to sell for personal benefit. Privacy: With the advance of technology, sometimes people lose their privacy (facebook, twitter, etc)

Social Issues in the Digital Age Cyber bulling “When the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person.” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7uyScK3-CU) Online Social Interaction Images, words, and information posting on social networking web Equity and accessibility of technology Some children leap ahead in technology skills through their readily available technological resources, but other falling behind because of their lack of access to technology. Cyber bullying: the bullying that has historically happened on the playground has entered cyberspace. The picture said “No one likes U”. Let’s watch one of the example of cyber bullying from this short clip from YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7uyScK3-CU Online Social Interaction: For example, a teen girl wants to get an attention from her opposite sex, so she sent him her message, followed by her inappropriate picture. Later, they broke up, the guy posted her picture inappropriate way to destroy her reputation and embarrass her. Equity an accessibility of technology: Generally, rich people are more skillful in technology, but not the poor.

Ethical Issues in the Digital Age Freedom of Speech Some of the information and opinions expressed are grounded in scientific fact and academic research. Others are simply personal viewpoints that may be offensive to some. Academic Dishonesty More plagiarism occurs in school, college, university environment. Privacy With an advance in technology, it is easy to monitor what an individual is doing and which sites he or she is visiting while connected. Freedom of Speech: In the cyberspace, people are freely express their though and opinion without caring other people feeling. Academic Dishonesty: Students copy and paste an information from the webpage of others to write the paper, hire others through online to write paper for him or her. Privacy: Usually, school technologies are public entities with clearly defined acceptable use policies, monitoring of activities is both appropriate and excepted.
