Go Fetch!

Problem My dog, Tru, isn’t getting enough exercise.

Hypothesis If I play fetch with my dog every night for two weeks, then he will get in shape and be able to play longer.

Steps of Experiment Day 1- I threw the ball for Tru 18 times. It took 8 minutes and it was about 80˚F. Tru was very energetic at first, but grew tired quickly. Day 2- Tru received the ball 22 times in 10 minutes. It was about 82˚F. He was so excited for me to play with him that he almost knocked me down. He played a little bit longer than the day before but not by much. Day 3- I played with Tru for 15 minutes. He brought back the ball 20 times. He was not as energetic as the days before today. He did not fetch the ball much.

Steps of Experiment Day 4- Tru went fetch for 10 minutes and got the ball 23 times. He barked at me until I came outside to play with him. The amount of times Tru fetches the ball hasn’t increased by much yet. Day 5- I could not throw the ball for Tru this day because of the football game. Day 6- Tru and I played for 8 minutes today and he brought the ball to me 23 times. Day 7- I was outside with Tru for 7 minutes and threw the ball 27 times. The number of times Tru is able to fetch the ball has increased by a little.

Steps of Experiment Day 8- I had to much homework this day to get out and play with Tru. Day 9- I played fetch for about 10 minutes and threw the ball 31 times. I can see that little by little Tru is getting in better shape. Day 10- It took Tru and I 18 minutes to play fetch. He retrieved the ball 40 times. I had to tell Tru it was time to stop because he was wheezing and getting very worn out. He probably would have played all night!

Steps of Experiment Day 11- I think Tru may have still been tired from the day before. Today he played for 10 minutes and brought the ball 35 times. Day 12- There was a football game today so I had no time to play with Tru. Day 13- We played for 12 minutes and he fetched the ball 39 times. I can tell Tru is getting in better shape everyday! Day 14- Tru played fetch for 15 minutes and gave me the ball 41 times. By the end of today he was pretty tired. Day 15- It took 13 minutes and 37 throws for him to get worn out.

Data

Conclusion My hypothesis was correct. Tru did get in better shape and was able to play fetch longer because of my experiment.
