Chapter 5 Fractions, Decimals, & Percents

Fractions, Decimals, and Percents are pretty much the SAME things!!! You have half an hour to finish your quiz. Quizzes count as 20% of your final grade. 50 100 0.50 or 0.5 50% 20 100 0.20 or 0.2 20%

NOTICE: the decimal looks like the whole number…only BACKWARDS!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! You MUST know your place-values 1,000 100 10 1 0.1 0.01 0.001 Thousands Hundreds Tens Ones Tenths Hundredths Thousandths NOTICE: the decimal looks like the whole number…only BACKWARDS!!!!!

Always make sure your FRACTION is in Decimals as Fractions To turn decimals to fractions you just “say” it. Ex: 0.6 0.6 is “six tenths” so 6/10 is the fraction! 6 3 10 5 Always make sure your FRACTION is in SIMPLEST FORM!

Decimals as Fractions 0.45 says “45 hundredths” 0.375 says “375 thousandths” 45 9 100 20 375 15 3 1000 40 8 ***Try to use BIGGER numbers!!!***

Don’t fear the Mixed Number 9.85 1st say the decimal and write it as a fraction. Now stick the WHOLE number in front… 2nd just ignore the WHOLE number! 85 17 9 100 20 17 9 20
