What is the British Psychological Society (BPS)? Some research may cause physical or psychological harm to the participant, their community or their culture if it disregards the best interests of those involved. Psychologists have a responsibility to carry out research in an ethical manner. All researchers are required to adhere to a set of guidelines put forward by the British Psychological Society (BPS). ‘Code of Ethics’ ‘Ethical Principles for Conducting Research with Human Participants’.
