Save the chase foundation

What is a vision statement? Vision Statement - is a single sentence or phrase that describes the organizations desired goal (30 example, n.d.). Is normally a single, short statement or sentence Describes the overall goals of the organization

What is a vision statement? A Vision Is: Our organization’s purpose, using our core values and inspirations (Mind Tools, 2016). A Vision is used to create: Mission – Our organization’s purpose, but stated in measurable and specific terms. Objectives – Our organization’s goals that are derived from the vision and mission. Strategy – Our organization’s plan to achieve the goals. Tactics – Our organization’s actions that will help us implement our strategy and achieve our goals.

Creating our vision Step one: Identify Champions Step two: Gather input Step three: Fine tuning

Creating our vision step one: identify champions According to Jurevicius (2013), gather a team. At Save the Chase Foundation we are calling them our Champions. Champions may be self identified and/or nominated Champions consist of employees from all levels of the organization. There is no limit to the number of Champions. Our team of Champions will be from all facets of the company. Champions will help to create the vision of Save the Chase Foundation.

Creating our vision step two: Gather Input Champions will be tasked with gathering thoughts and ideas from the entire organization (Jurevicius, 2013). This may include the following: Having a company wide survey asking for input Having a company wide competition Having brainstorming sessions Other ideas as determined by the Champions

Creating our vision step three: Fine tuning Develop a draft of the vision statement (Jurevicius, 2013). Organize all of the information that has been gathered. Determine common terms and goals to develop themes. Create multiple options of possible vision statements by using different combinations of the identified themes. Share the options with the entire company and ask for feedback. Repeat as necessary until Save the Chase Foundation has a Shared Vision.

Implementing the vision statement Creating the Vision for Save the Chase Foundation is only the beginning! Our Mission Statement, Objectives, Strategy, and Tactics must all be in alignment and in support of the Vision in order for us to be successful (Mind Tools, 2016; Jurevicius, 2013). The next step is to create our mission statement, followed by defining our objectives (goals), developing our strategy (plan of action), and incorporating our tactics (daily activities). This can be done by following the VMOST analysis (Mind Tools, 2016).

Implementing the vision: vmost analysis According to Mind Tools (2016) we can use the VMOST Analysis to implement our shared vision: VMOST analysis helps identify Objectives, Strategy, and Tactics that support the mission and vision statements. Vision Statement Mission Objectives Strategy Tactics

ASSESSING THE VISION: possible models Once our vision has been implemented, it must be continually assessed to ensure it is working. There are multiple ways to assess our vision: PEST Analysis – Political, Economic, Technological, Social Issues affecting Save the Chase Foundation (Jurevicius, 2013). Porter’s Five Forces – Supplier Power, Buyer Power, Barriers to Entry, Threat of Substitutes Jurevicius, 2013, p. 3 Jurevicius, 2013, p. 4

Assessing the vision Besides the PEST Analysis and Porter’s Five Forces Analysis, there are several other ways to assess a vision (Jurevicius, 2013). IFE & EFE Matrices (a.k.a. SWOT Analysis) Competitive Profile Matrix Benchmarking And many others!

Revising the vision Assessing and revising of our vision is a continual process! If an assessment reveals that the vision is no longer in line with the purpose of Save the Chase Foundation, it will need to be revised. In order to revise the vision correctly, the entire process needs to be repeated. While this may be a painstaking process, the result will be worth it!
