What is the source of this type of energy What is the source of this type of energy? How does this energy source work? This energy source works by plants and animal. When you get Bio mass, or plant material and burn it, the carbon dioxide it absorbed is released. Biofuel is being used as replacement, for gasoline or diesel for se in internal combustion engines. It stores carbon dioxide that burns and produces heat. It creates heat and light.

Where this energy is used today Some places would be to cook food, power internal combustion engines, and as a heating source.

Where it is used… Pacific Diesel uses the oil that they get from fast food restaurants like McDonalds and turns it into biodiesel. Headquartered in Kahului, Hawaii they sell Biodiesel to consumers.

How this technology impact the environment: Positive and Negative Biofuels can replace gasoline and diesel for use in an internal combustion engine. It is cleaner to use and more fuel efficient. Negative Growing Biofuel takes up land that could be used for growing food for people. It makes green house gases.

Social costs or concerns When Biofuels are burned, it makes greenhouse gases. Growing Biofuel material takes up space that could be used to grow food for people. The cost of food goes up.

Pros about using this energy source It makes sense to get rid of our waste when we can. It gets rid of methane gas from going in the atmosphere. The fuel used is generally cheap. There is a decrease of demand for fossil fuels.

Cons about using this energy source When burned, Biofuels release greenhouse gases. Growing Biofuels takes the space of food that can be used to grow food for people to eat.
