WHAT IS ETHICS?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIaHxC7BT0A

Ethics was originally a branch of philosophy Ethics was originally a branch of philosophy. But now Ethics has become a branch of every other area of study including Social work.

Ethics is a philosophical concept that determines the definition of “right” and “wrong”, especially when applied to interaction between people.

What will you do?

Reflection Piece What will you do if you find Bill Gates wallet that has $3000… Will you return it or keep it?

What will you do? Its 4:30 in the morning and you are driving. There are no one at that time and the lights are red. What will you do? Wait for the lights to turn green or pass it…

What will you do? What will you do if you witness during midnight some strange person entering your neighbour’s house through the window. Will you call 911 or leave it...

What will you do? What will you do if someone bribes you to not help your client because the client is his son and he wants his son to learn the hard way. Will you accept the money and not help your client or will you refuse.

Addressing ethical challenges Ask the following question when faced with ethical challenges: What does my intuition tell me? Am I feeling stress or self-doubt about my chosen direction?  Is there an established way that my colleagues would act in the same situation?  Does my profession have a set of ethical guidelines? If so, do they suggest a course of action?  Are there existing laws that apply? If so, what requirements do I need to follow?  What are my personal values and beliefs? What guidance do they provide?
