DIVIDING DECIMALS BY DECIMALS MCC6.NS.3 – Fluently divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm.

Are the following fractions in each string equal to one another Are the following fractions in each string equal to one another? Explain why or why not. 0.25 .50 , 2.5 5 , 25 50 , 250 500 0.08 0.32 , .8 3.2 , 8 32 , 80 320 180 90 , 18 9 , 1.8 .9 , .18 .09

STANDARD ALGORITHM: 1. Put numbers in position to divide. 2. Make the divisor a whole number by moving the decimal point as many places to the right as it needs to go. 3. Move the decimal point in the dividend the same number of places to the right. Put a zero in any empty space. 4. Rewrite your division problem. 5. Bring the decimal point up to the quotient. 6. Divide. (DMSB) *When there is a remainder, annex (add) one or more zeros to the dividend in order to finish dividing (to the hundredths place).

MATH BOOK PAGE 139 Complete even problems 2-30. Fold a paper in half 3 times to make 16 boxes. #2-14 should be completed on side 1, #16-30 on side 2. Turn in work when finished. Unfinished problems will be completed for homework.
