Archeological/Architectural /Museum PHYSICAL AND AESTHETIC FEATURES REGION NAME: LIGURIA SITE NAME: SANTA CATERINA'S CLOISTERS TIPE OF SITE Archeological/Architectural /Museum PHYSICAL AND AESTHETIC FEATURES The style of the previous church belongs to the Medieval art. The two cloisters were realized with different workforces: in the first one, the local material is used, in the capitals of its columns, there are some big leaves and the coat of arms of the Carretto's family. In the second one, there are capitals with zoomorphic representations. One of the cloisters was joined to the church by an inner hallway. AREA COVERED Finalborgo is one of the three parts which make up the town of Finale Ligure .It has 600 residents. HISTORICAL AND ARTISTIC ARTISTIC INFORMATION The previous church had a rectangular map with three naves, an apsis and two rectangular chapels. In 1825, some changes were given to its structure, such as the position of the apsis, the closing of the chapels and a unique nave. From 1865 to1965 it was a male prison until the 60s of XX century when it became the Museum of Finale wirh a following addition of the library and the auditorium. DATING 1359> foundation 1400/1500> greatest splendor.

CONDITION OF PRESERVATION REGION NAME: LIGURIA SITE NAME: SANTA CATERINA'S CLOISTERS VISITING TIME CONDITION OF PRESERVATION It is enterely preserved. The entrance is free and it is open everyday. LEGAL OWNERSHIP It belongs to Finale Ligure municipality, but it is run by the ''Centro Storico del Finale'',a local voluntary association.
