Gettysburg July 1-3 1863 By July of 1863 the Confederacy is starting to lose its ability to fight, despite its superior military performance The Confederacy invades Pennsylvania in the hope of them attacking Maryland from the North The Union is able to entrench themselves and defeat the Confederacy

Grant in the West Ulysses S. Grant wins battle after battle in the west He demands unconditional surrender from all Confederate forces that he attacks He is willing to suffer losses of men to win battles Battle of Vicksburg (July 4th 1863) ensures that the South will not win

Sherman’s March William T. Sherman marches through Georgia stealing all valuables from every city that he reaches, burning homes, and destroying railroads Total War- attacking the population or anything that could help your enemy
