Film/TV Writing Week 14

Monday Bell Ringer & Agenda: Quick summary of chapter 21. Bell Ringer Duel Perspectives Chapter 22

Duel Perspectives: answer questions thoroughly Duel Perspectives: answer questions thoroughly. At least half page response. At the end of Chapter 21 and the start of Chapter 22, Susie 'fell to Earth' and Ruth collapsed unconscious into the road. Susie describes moving into Ruth's body as she invites Ray to make love to her. How might this conflation(mixed together) of character be achieved in the film? Which of these approaches might be the most effective and why? use of dissolves between Ruth and Susie's faces? use of Susie's voice through Ruth's mouth? replacement of Ruth by Susie? For the reader, arguably there is ambiguity and doubt as to the extent to which this is Ruth and Ray's imagination playing tricks with them. How might we expect the film to recreate this ambiguity? Half page response! When finished, turn answer into Mrs. Webster and begin reading chapter 22. Chapter 22 & 23 are Due Wednesday! Final Test next Tuesday!

Tuesday Bell Ringer & Agenda: Pick up the study guide for chapter 22 & 23. Bell Ringer Chapter 22 Chapter 23

Friday Bell Ringer & Agenda: Get a computer and log in. Bell Ringer Writing Prompt Film to Book

Where’s the love interest? There are romance elements weaving through the novel. To what extent could you describe The Lovely Bones as a romantic novel? In what ways could the conventions of a teen romance be used to make the film of this novel? What would be the limitations of such an approach? Look at the opening of the trailer. In what ways does Ray represent a romantic hero? When finished, work on Book to Film worksheet from yesterday Work on your study guides. Make sure you have all of them for Monday!
