Capitalization Always capitalize “I” when referring to oneself. Remember. . . Always capitalize “I” when referring to oneself. Capitalize all languages and races. Capitalize proper names of people, places, and historical time periods. Only capitalize a season of the year if it is the first word of a sentence. It is still summer. Fall is our next season. Capitalization, when used correctly, helps readers understand the text more clearly.
