Space Moon Landing- Neil Armstrong lands on the moon in 1969. Hubble Space Telescope- orbiting observatory, allowed people to see new Galaxies

Weapons of Mass Destruction Nuclear Weapons Bioterrorism- bio and chemical weapons used in terrorism. Ex. Antrax Cyber Terrorism- the use of Internet based attacks in terrorist activities

Green Revolution Creation of new strands of seeds to produce larger yields of crops

Environmental Crisis Climate Change- The warming of the Earth due to the burning of fossil fuels Deforestation- clears forest for farmland, kills wild life Greenhouse effect- the steady warming of the Earth Kyoto Protocol- 150 nations agree to reduce emissions

Sustainable development Working to conserve natural resources Creates power based on wind, water, and solar

Population World population has rapidly increased since industrialization Will reach 9 billion by 2050 Problems- Hunger, Jobs, Housing, Natural resources, Disease

World Trade Organization 140 members Controls and regulates world trade Tariffs and exchange of currencies Lassaiz Faire economics- the idea of a free regulated market (Government hands off)

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Work towards ending: -Hunger -Disarmament- disarm nuclear weapons -Climate change Palestinian Liberation Organization(PLO)- organization created with the purpose of creating an independent State of Palestine
