IB Environmental Systems and Societies Opening Day 2013-2014

Respect…. RULES RULES RULES Your Peers Your Teacher Your Room Yourself Appropriate language at all times Honesty – don’t cheat or plagiarize Be prepared and take responsibility

Late Work Lab Class/Homework Late Labs If you do not have your lab to turn in during the beginning of class on the due date, it immediately starts out as a 50%! After one week, you receive a 0%, but you will still have to turn in your lab in order to sit for the IB exam in May. Your labs are your Internal Assessments Turning in labs is NOT an option! Assignments must be turned in during the beginning of class on the date due. If you turn it in one class period late, it starts out as an 80%. 2 Class periods late it starts out as a 50% After that, you receive a 0%.... in other words…you have a week to turn in late work!

Absent? It is YOUR responsibility to make up AND TURN IT IN!! Check the box and take missed work upon return. Ask questions before or after school! Please do not ask between classes. You must come before school to get a pass for your Flex block. Notes from a friend or me after school You have 1 week! Sign up to come after school

Materials 3 Ringed Binder A 1 or 3-Subject Spiral Notebook or dividers Bring these everyday… including Flex! Regular Stuff (pen/pencil/paper) Color Pencils or Markers (optional)

Extra Credit If you do not have any NHI’s (not handed in) at the end of the 9 weeks you will be awarded 3% points extra credit. If you are absent when work was turned in this will not be counted against you as long as you hand it in when you get back. (your responsibility) Sleeping, being off task during labs or excessive tardies will also lose you extra credit points.

Be On Time! Stonewall’s tardy policy!

Flex Time Management We will be doing activities, example test questions, and discussions to enhance the materials learned in class. TOK connections Analysis of your assessment statements into your spiral notebook. Therefore, your binder and spiral must be brought to every Flex….colored pencils wouldn’t hurt

Grading Scale Tests/Quizzes = 40% Labs = 30% Classwork/Homework = 20% Projects = 10% Stonewall Jackson’s Grading Scale will be used.
