Integumentary and Muscular Systems Vocabulary Integumentary and Muscular Systems

Structure

Structure The parts of something more complex.

What is the function?

Function The purpose for something’s design

Integumentary System The integumentary system consists of the skin, hair, nails, glands, and nerves. The function is to retain body fluids, protect against disease, eliminate waste products, and regulate body temperature.

What body system?

Muscular System The muscular system has three muscle types: smooth, skeletal and cardiac. The function is the movement of body parts, stability and posture, heat production, circulation, and help in digestion.

What does it mean to volunteer?

Voluntary Muscle Voluntary muscles are muscles that you have control of, like your arms, legs, face muscles, and others.

Involuntary Muscle Muscle that contracts without your control found in organs such as stomach and intestine and bladder and blood vessels
