Do Now: What is a quote?

Conclusion Objective: create a conclusion that analyzes your opinion of your wonder

What is a conclusion???? Rephrased (reworded) thesis statement which starts with a phrase such as: Thus, Therefore. (sentence should be written differently than it is in the introduction) Summarizes major points of notes Lesson learned (theme) – universal statement (something that applies to everyone) Is made up of strong sentences Can be more than one paragraph!!!

To PROVE whether or not your wonder is a “Wonder” The Purpose To wrap up your paper To PROVE whether or not your wonder is a “Wonder”

Include: 2 paragraphs that answer the following questions: -What do you think the criteria should be for being considered a world wonder -Do you think your wonder is a world wonder? Why or Why not? Topic sentence that includes a transition word (first or second conclusion paragraph) Five proven reasons for your opinion Closing Sentence ( with a universal statement)

Some examples of transition words! As a result Overall Thus Hence For this reason Therefore Due to In Conclusion In short

Lets get started!!! 1st paragraph explaining what you believe is the criteria for something to be considered a world wonder.

FIRST SENTENCE: 2nd paragraph Answer this question, Is your wonder a world wonder or not??

Examples: There is no question that ____________ is a wonder of the world. There is no doubt in my mind that the __________ is a wonder of the world. After gathering all information….

Second Prove your reasoning with 5 reasons or examples, these should reflect your criteria from conclusion paragraph #1 What makes you believe your wonder is a “WONDER” or not. Use your resources to prove your opinion.

Closing Sentence A universal statement A sentence that states how everyone should visit or take interest in your wonder of the world

Good Example of 2nd paragraph!! I would have to say that the Empire State Building could be considered a wonder. It shows human ingenuity and skill with resourcefulness using limited technology we had 75 years ago. It is amazing that something so large could have been built so many years ago. It is popular with American people and a landmark in their minds. Furthermore, this building had a glorious rein that had not been surpassed in height until 1972. Do not forget, this building was constructed in less than 19 months, which is shorter than some small buildings today. Last but not least, this building had survived depressions, failures, and many more to still be here today. In your life time visiting the Empire State building would not only enhance you knowledge of this spectacular site it would also allow you take in the wonderful city views.

What is a Quote? A quote is a statement made by another person that you are using word for word in you writing Or A statement written by someone else that you are using word for word in your writing

The quote Your paper must include ONE (1) quote I suggest using it in the conclusion, you may however, use it in the introduction. The quote should add something to the paper, I should not simply be something that someone stated about your wonder, that is just thrown into the paper just because it has to be there.

Remember a quote is not necessarily something someone said It can be something an author wrote that you found very interesting or very informative.
