Vocabulary Factoring Zero Product Property GCF PST DoS Grouping Quadratic Zero Product Property

Root or solution The value of the variable in an equation Root or solution The value of the variable in an equation. (also called the x-intercepts and zeros.) Double Root or Double Zero If a root or solution appears twice because it is a repeated factor, then it is a double root or double zero.

Zero Product Property - used to solve an equation Zero Product Property - used to solve an equation.   1) Write the equation with zero on one side. 2) Factor the non-zero side of the equation. 3) Set each factor equal to zero and solve.

Example 1 Solve: x(x + 4) = 0

Example 2 Solve: x2 + 7x = 0
