Homeless Youth As I read the sources of information on homeless youth, I was feeling frustrated as I learned about the statistics . My first frustration was the way that the information is reported. I feel like there is a lot of talk, time spent looking how to calculate percentages of homeless youth, and meetings to talk about the problem. Although I know that all of these things are needed to begin to solve the problem, I can’t help but to think about the young person that is right now, on the street, cold, hungry, and scared. What can we do RIGHT NOW to help this young person? When there is a natural disaster somewhere in this country, temporary shelters and aid is sent in almost immediately to help the people that are now without their homes. Why are we not able to do this for those who are already homeless? These areas and other areas in the United States can refer to the website, The United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. The main thought of this council is, ” Homelessness prevention is a set of strategies to help low-income households resolve a housing crisis that would otherwise lead to homelessness.” (USICH)
