Types of Stress: Distress stress that produces negative effects. Examples: The death of a spouse Filing for divorce The death of a family member Injury or illness (oneself or a family member) Being abused or neglected Bankruptcy/Money Problems Unemployment Sleep problems Legal problems
Distress Causes anxiety or concern Can be short- or long-term Is perceived as outside of our coping abilities Feels unpleasant Decreases performance Can lead to mental and physical problems
Eustress Examples: stress that produces positive effects. Receiving a promotion or raise at work Starting a new job Marriage Buying a home Having a child Moving Taking a vacation Holiday seasons Retiring Riding a rollercoaster
Eustress Motivates, focuses energy Is short-term Is perceived as within our coping abilities Feels exciting Improves performance

Skit Time! First off- rules for skits. 1.) NO inappropriate language. NO cussing! 2.) NO inappropriate topics!!! 3.) EVERYONE MUST SAY SOMETHING! 4.) While the groups are performing, you WILL be quiet. 5.)You may use props! Anything in room or your own. 6.) Yes, YOU have to perform!!!

We should be able to see clear ideas and stressors. 3.) You may choose to do one topic the whole time OR you can choose to show 2 different situations.
