when they hit an object with a very smooth and shiny surface,  The bouncing back of light waves when they hit an object with a very smooth and shiny surface, like a mirror

Refraction of Light  The light changes speed/direction as it travels creating an optical illusion.

There are different colors of light because they are light waves which have different wavelengths. Red light has the longest wavelength while violet light has the shortest wavelength

Light travels in a straight line.

Allow all the light to pass through. Clear Water Clear Plastic Clear Glass Clear Air

Allow only some amount of light to pass through. Wax Paper Cellophane Translucent Plastic Frosted Glass

Do not allow light to pass through them. Wood Books Rock Metal

There are 3 kinds of Shadows Dark Faint Lighter Light is blocked by opaque object Light is blocked by transparent object Light is blocked by translucent object

You can change the size of a shadow by moving your body or the object closer to or farther from the light. (Shadows grow bigger and fuzzier as the object moves closer to the light source, and smaller and sharper as the object moves farther away.)
