1. My first symbol is of a globe reading a book with a graduation cap 1. My first symbol is of a globe reading a book with a graduation cap. This represents the importance of education in my culture. Education is valued above all. 2. My second symbol is of March 17th, a pot of gold, a leprechaun hat, and shamrock. This epitomizes every St. Patrick’s Day of my childhood. Each year my extended family would make a float for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and, depending on the theme, we would ride on it dressed as leprechauns, Irish dancers, and other Irish folks in order to throw candy to the crowd. 3. My third symbol is of the word “Catholic,” nuns, and priests. This exemplifies my culture’s number one religion. As a child from a devout Catholic family, I attended Catholic schools through my sophomore year of high school! 4. The pictures are of me, my two sons, Ashton and Hunter, and my niece Emily in Washington, D.C. last summer. The other picture is of Ashton and his good friend named Emily.
