Starter of the day Hatching & cross hatching Get out your worksheet if you got one last time otherwise you will need to get one from up front. Using lines for hatching, crossing lines for cross hatching and dots for stippling you will create gradation.

Agenda Talk about the previous days assignment. Demonstration on how to draw your image onto your Plexiglas Go to library to get a photo to work with.

We also started hatching & cross hatching our worksheet. Last time We finished stencils and any other assignment that we needed to get done. We also started hatching & cross hatching our worksheet.

Dry point engraving prints

Step 1 Put you black and white photo under your Plexiglas.

Step 2 Tape it in place so it does not move while you are doing you dry point.

Step 3 Draw image onto Plexiglas with sharpie marker to see how you like it. Make sure to show gradation with the hatching and cross hatching.

Step 3 Begin scratching into the Plexiglas using hatching or cross hatching to create gradation. Hint: The image will look like a negative before printing.

Step 4 Soak paper in water for 5-8 minutes & pat dry. You should do this while you are inking so it is ready once your are.

Step 5 Add ink to your plate with newspaper

Step 6 Clean off excess ink with cheesecloth & newspaper.

Step 7 Run the print through the printing press.

Library expectations We are going to the library to get animal photos in black and white. You need to select 4 ideas that you will play around with. It can be the same animal in different poses Or All different animals When printing make sure you print 5x7 in size Unselect fit to frame Print the printer in the lab we are in

Studio time 1st draw your images into your sketchbook of your 4 animals using hatching and cross hatching. 2nd make a decision of which animal you would like to turn into a dry point engraving image. 3rd hatch and cross hatch your image onto the Plexiglas using visa vie markers to see how you like it. Once done check off with Mrs. Francesconi so you can re-draw it with sharpie.
