Listening & reading in SpanisH

LISTENING: What did they just say? Mental Preparation: Know ahead of time that you’re not going to understand EVERY word.

LISTENING: What did they just say? Think about the context (who is talking, where are they, etc.) Listen to inflection (tone of voice)

LISTENING: What did they just say? Listen for words you do know Try to get the gist first!

LISTENING: What did they just say? Listening is an active process! Jot notes as you listen. Not everything goes in order!

LISTENING: How to get better? PRACTICE! Watch movies & tv shows in Spanish. Listen to music in Spanish. Converse in Spanish! Seek extra listening activities!

READING: What does that mean? Prior knowledge: What do you already know about this theme?

READING: What does that mean? Mental Preparation: Know ahead of time that you’re not going to understand EVERY word.

READING: What does that mean? Think about the context (who is talking, where are they, etc.) Listen to inflection (tone of voice)

READING: What does that mean? Listen for words you do know! Read for the gist (don’t look up every word) Stop & process what you’ve read. Reread!
