Professional Interview The application Process

You’re Hired Before you are selected for the opportunity to have a face to face interview with a potential employer, you will need to complete the application process. Follow this tutorial to gain tips and guidance as you complete this important step, on your journey to gain employment.

Time to go request applications First, let’s make sure you are dressed appropriately. Gentlemen choose your outfit Ladies, choose your outfit

Whoa. Let’s try that again… Whoa! Let’s try that again….. Remember, you want to make a good first impression. Chances are, that the person handing you the application will be a hiring manager. DON’T wear: Jeans Gym shoes Anything with tears or holes Jogging outfits DO wear: Dress pants Dress shoes Collared and buttoned shirts Clean, ironed, and business appropriate clothing

Way to go! You look fabulous. Now, you are ready to visit the businesses of your choosing. It is always best to start with those advertising employment opportunities. However, if there is an establishment you really like, ask for the manager on duty and let him/her know you looking for a job.

On-line or paper application On-line or paper application? Many companies will allow you to choose how you fill out and place your application. Although, some do require that you complete the application on-line. Choose which one you would like to practice first: On-line application Paper application

On-line Applications Before you Leave home, you will need to take the following information with you: Name, phone number, and address for at least 2 (non-relative) references Information and dates for any previous employers List of your volunteer work, activities and/or sports, awards/recognitions Know your hours and days of availability

Paper Applications Before you begin, you will need to have the following information: Blue or black ink pen Name, phone number, and address for at least 2 (non-relative) references Information and dates for any previous employers List of your volunteer work, activities and/or sports, awards/recognitions Know your hours and days of availability

Just one more thing before you begin . . . Warning: READ ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY! This will help you to avoid making mistakes. You might want to write out your answers on a separate sheet of paper, then copy them onto the application. Print neatly and legibly. Every error or piece of wrong information is a reason for them not to request an interview with you. Do you need to go through the checklist one more time? Are you ready? Let’s get started

Pay attention, this application asks for you to begin with your last name. Write out the date (ex: September 16, 2016) If you do not have a middle name, draw a small line Be sure that your contact information is correct, otherwise they will not be able to call you for an interview. Done? Let’s move on…. Did you make a mistake? Do no scratch out. Click here to print a new copy OOPS!
