Rome Background Information 101-44 B.C. People joined Roman Army to get rich Rome wanted new lands to conquer, army was very important Vocabulary: Professional army: an army which men joined who were willing to fight, but mainly so they could get wealthy and gain a higher status

Who is Julius Caesar? Tall, muscular, and enjoyed looking good Shaved frequently but was almost bald Smart, funny, charming, and polite Ambitious, determined, ruthless, and arrogant Was teased since he was almost bald

How Did He Get Power? Commanded part of the Roman Army Successful general Became REALLY popular Formed an alliance with powerful Romans Pompey and Crassus Made his soldiers loyal to him and not Rome Vocabulary: Alliance: a partnership between 2 people, groups, or countries that help each other with power, money, war, and more

What Did He Do?
