design Define: make a plan Example: Jake and Andy are helping to design a pictures for the school’s new wall. Ask: How would you design something new?

encouraged Define: comfort Example: My teacher encouraged us to eat healthy snacks. Ask: Can you name something someone has encouraged you to do?

examine Define: looked at closely Example: The vet will examine my dog to make sure he is healthy snacks. Ask: What does the word examine mean?

invention Define: created Example: Tom’s invention was strange and different. Ask: Why are inventions so important?

quality Define: how well something is made. Example: A good quality helmet helps keep me safe. Ask: Why do people buy good quality things?

simple Define: easy Example: Walking my dog is a simple and easy way to have fun. Ask: What word in the sentence means the same as simple?

solution Define: answers Example: Marco found a solution that helped him get better grades. Ask: What does it mean to find a solution?

substitutes Define: to put things in place of another. Example: Fruit and popcorn are healthful substitutes for candy. Ask: Can you name two more healthful substitutes?
