Warm-Up: Wednesday, October 29 Page 231 Objective: To transform summaries and other people’s words into a narrative form. Question: How do you turn short summaries into short narratives, or story, scenes?

Warm-Up: Think-Pair-Share Share your answer with your elbow partner for two minutes. Regroup!

Character Portrait: Annie Jump Cannon If you have not done so already, finish the character portrait (Stick Figure) for Annie Jump Cannon. Based off of the articles that we have read in class and the Cosmos video, what are Annie Jump Cannon’s character traits?

Multiple Media: Five Step Process Using the Character Portrait, let’s try and rephrase the summaries in first person from Annie Jump Cannon’s perspective.

Setting The Scene-Independent Research Instructions: On page 241 of your Journals, do the following: Find an image of your subject’s work space or place of residence. If your subject is a doctor, found out what his or her hospital looked like. If he or she is a scientist, try to find a picture of his or her lab. Create a chart for nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Fill this out for the image that you have found. Write a scene setting based off of the image that is at least four sentences long.
