Presentation transcript:

Bell Ringer: Monday, January 30th Copy down the word for today… Cavort (verb) Definition: to jump or dance around in a lively or excited manner Sentence: Many students cavort around the gym during school dances. Write a complete, original sentence using the word “loll” (verb). Our words so far… Penultimate, refute, satire, loll, victuals, and CAVORT We’ll have one more word and then a QUIZ on Friday (write this down!) When you’re finished, get a blank piece of loose leaf paper out.

With your group… Review your summaries for each chapter Be sure you can agree on what happened in each chapter Everyone in your group should be ready to share a summary from 8, 9, or 10 – I will pick random people to share in 4 minutes.

Annotate… Your goal: place 4 sticky notes for chapters 8-10 Every group member must contribute If you can’t place one for each theme, place 2 for one theme.

No homework for tonight… BUT…blog post #1 is due Thursday. You will have reading assigned tomorrow night, Wednesday, and Thursday, so plan accordingly. After reading the first 10 chapters, what are your impressions of Huck? What kind of person is he? What are his physical and emotional characteristics? What kind of relationships does he have? Is he a likeable character? Relatable? Why or why not? Your response… MUST be at least 8 sentences! If it’s not, you won’t get full credit MUST incorporate at least ONE “quote from the text” (27).
