Free Write - Ode Think back to your childhood. Write about objects, foods, places, people that you remember fondly and vividly (ex. Pillow pet, baseball mitt, Lucky Charms, Metro Beach, etc.) Once you exhaust one item, move onto a new one.

Writer’s Workshop Write an Original Ode to a Favorite Childhood Object. Remember to include: Choose a childhood object you have strong feelings about. Must be 20 lines Describe your subject inside and out Exaggerate its admirable qualities, until it seems to become central to human existence. Tap all five senses--if they fit. (don't force it) Use at least 2 examples of figurative language At times, directly address the subject of your ode. Tell your feelings about the subject and describe its qualities. Choose strong words: language that is packed with meaning.
