Presentation transcript:

Get Ready… You are about to begin an adventure… Clear your desk except for a pencil You will be given a two pieces of computer paper and sticky notes Kathy Heim

DO NOT TOUCH THE PLAYDOUGH!! Think of three things you could make with this jar of play dough. Jot all three ideas down on your paper Think about how each might be made Will one idea be the easiest, hardest, most complicated, most fun to make? What are the pros and cons to each idea? Pick one of your ideas to create and circle it

NEXT: On your paper, make a plan… Write or sketch how you will make your creation

NOW IT’S TIME TO OPEN YOUR PLAY DOUGH!! Open your play dough and begin creating your structure. You will have two minutes. Good luck!

STOP! How did you feel when I said STOP? Look at your creation… What do you need to do to finish? Do you need to add to your piece? Do you need to remove anything from your piece? Do you need to move anything around? Do you need to add more detail? Will other students understand your purpose? Make a plan to improve your creation

START… REVIEW YOU PLAN FOR IMPROVEMENT Begin making changes You have three minutes…Get going!

STOP! Now look for details… Look for tiny details that will help others understand your creation. Do you need any smoothing? Do you need to carve any shapes? Do you need bits of additional play dough? Begin making final changes

START…making final changes Give your creation a name that fits it – write that in neat letters…capitalize the important words in your title. Sign your name on the base.

Stand up and push your chair in… Visit the other creations on display in your classroom. Use sticky notes to leave positive comments on some of your classmates’ creations. When you hear the music play, please bring your writer’s notebooks and a pencil to the front.
