This is the man who painted the picture. His name is Piet Mondrian.
He was part of a movement in the early 1900’s called Neoplasticism that is a form of abstract art. Neoplasticism is art that was made from vertical and horizontal lines and using the primary colors.
He liked to use lines put together as squares and rectangles.
He liked to use the colors red, yellow, blue, black and white.
Placing these squares and lines on the canvas was very important to him.
