Vision and Hearing

Vision How light enters the eye Rays of light strike the cornea Reaches the pupil Strikes the lens, where it focuses the light Passes the fluid in your eye & reaches the retina Then strikes the rods and cones Nerve impulses are sent to the brain through the optic nerve where the image is turned right-side up.

Hearing How you hear Sound waves enter the outer ear (ear canal to the eardrum) Eardrum vibrates when sound waves strike it Vibrations pass to the middle ear making structures vibrate Vibrations pass through fluid in the cochlea Cochlea vibrates causing receptors to vibrate Nerve impulses are sent to the brain through the auditory nerve
