How did Immigration change Britain 1945-75? Lesson Aim: To prepare the content needed to tackle a practice exam paper. TASK: What kinds of people have we already looked at who migrated during the war? Did it change Britain? Use p432 onwards to help.

How did Immigration change Britain 1945-75? Stick in the map and look at different people who emigrated to the Britain 1945-75. Two key groups that emigrated to Britain during this period: Caribbean: ‘Windrush’ ship carried , may moved because of unemployment in Jamaica. However, some British people reacted negatively to them. East Africa/India Subcontinent: many people of Asian origin came from Africa after being persecuted. They had gone after slavery was abolished to fill the work gap. As African colonies gained independence they wanted an African identity which often excluded their Asian population.
