Which is the best? From what you know of all the presidents which was the most impactful? Do you think you could have done the job better? Why or why not? Try to avoid using Abraham Lincoln but if you have to be specific about how you would have done better at president

Judging the Juveniles Looking at the battles of the Civil War See how momentum shifted at the time Focusing on Gettysburg, Chickamauga and the Union Blockade Blockade Activity

The state of the war After the battle of Antietam the south was retreating Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation in January of 1863 because the North was gaining power However the south started winning victories again shortly after that began to push the battle north into Pennsylvania

Gettysburg This battle raged on from July 1-3, 1863 and took 50,000 lives in total Lee felt if the South could push the battles north into Penn. Then they may give up Lee’s forces were outnumbered and were running out of supplies The South tried to get the high ground and failed The South lost the battle and retreated back to Virginia and didn’t go further North

The Gettysburg address After the battle the North started to gain morale President Lincoln realized how important this win was Lincoln delivered this speech to shift the momentum of the Confederacy Many believe this speech was one of the most important speeches of American History

Chickamauga The first major battle fought in G.A was ten miles south of Tennessee in Chickamauga The second bloodiest battle of the civil war was fought here where over 34,000 died in this conflict The goal was to capture and ensnare the railroads found in Chattanooga and Atlanta Was the largest union victory in the western theater and Grant became General of Union army

Strategizing Situation The goal is to get all the markers to the outside row of desks and then pass them back to the center The only way to get it to the outside is to pass them without someone stopping you Every 30 sec. I will add a new person to block trade You have to be sneaky because if the monitors catch you then you have to give up the marker

Union Blockade Basically seen as the anaconda plan The goal is to isolate the South’s cotton from European weapons The North would use it’s military to surround the coast of the south and cut off trade routes within the country as well Georgia tried to sneak past the North’s navy and built gun boats like the iron clad, they could not get out
