Day 53 Each square represents 2 miles. Ann was studying at the library before dinner with her friends at the local restaurant. She forgot her money, so she had to go home before going to the restaurant. What route should she take to get to her house, then to the restaurant? How many more miles will she have to travel going home first rather than going straight from the library to the restaurant?

Interpret and Graph Coordinate Values

Identify any patterns on the table. Let’s work together on the Smart Board to input the data in the data table: Savannah and her friends are participating in a Walk-a-Thon. Their sponsors have agreed to give them $3 for each mile they walk. Input the data for the amount of money they will raise in the data table below. Miles Walked Money Raised 1 3 Identify any patterns on the table. Describe the relationship between the number of miles walked and the money raised.

Create a graph to represent the data. First, we must label each axis. Then, we will plot the data points. Miles Walked Money Raised 1 3 2 6 9 4 12 5 15 Once the graph is complete, what do you notice about the data?

Discussing the Graph After looking at the grid, I noticed the points are always the same distance apart so they are constant with miles and money raised. The money raised continues to increase as the distance increases.

Find Day 53, “Pattern Hunt Directions & Recording Sheet” & Grids One partner draws a line from (0,0) through 3 points on the grid, extending the line across the entire grid.
