Presentation transcript:

Bellwork Take 10 minutes to complete/correct your CCC from yesterday. Grab a book if needed, and take your paper from the front of the room. How has Shakespeare used rhetoric to advance the plot of Julius Caesar? Which of the characters would you say is most static based on evidence from the text? Which of the characters would you say is most dynamic based on evidence from the text? Thinking about the STEAL method of indirect characterization, how do we learn most of what we know about Caesar?

Julius Caesar Lesson 4

Objective Students will determine how Shakespeare uses rhetoric to advance central idea. Students will identify how central idea is advanced through the conflicts and interactions between characters.

Activity Today you will be working in groups! You will complete a reading guide with your group members as you read the text together. The reading guide should have your instructions, so follow directions precisely and seek help from your teacher as needed! NOTE: If you are see off task, your teacher will make a mark on your group’s assignment sheet. Each of those marks will result in the loss of one point on your grade.

Let’s Read As we read, focus on our objectives—thinking specifically about how rhetoric is used and what we learn as the conflicts develop and more characters are introduced and interact with one another. Even if you do not have a reading part, be prepared to answer questions as we stop and discuss the reading throughout the course of the text.

LET’S DISCUSS!

Best of luck! Email if you have any questions at all! Quiz Tomorrow What to Study: Notes about historical context Vocabulary from the textbook page 888 See the PowerPoint presentations on Mrs. Thomas’s website (thomasenglishghs.weebly.com). Look under the “Week at a Glance” tab. Reread the text as needed—you can google “Julius Caesar No Fear Shakespeare” and find the full version online! Best of luck! Email if you have any questions at all!
