Our focus is on helping students transition to independently completing tasks and Taking ownership for their own learning!

HOMEWORK & MISSING ASSIGNMENTS -Homework should be purposeful and meaningful. -Students are expected to make positive use of class time provided. -In Math/ Science, “Problems of the Week” will be started at school but there is the possibility for it to be finished at home -In Humanities, students and parents are encouraged to spend time reading and discussing texts and big ideas from class -Homework will be noted in agendas -If assignments are late or missing, you will be notified by your child’s subject area teacher via email

Expectations: Technology & Recess Morning Recess: 15 minutes OUTSIDE No devices Lunch Recess: 30 minutes Must be in an area supervised by a teacher (Learning Commons, Gym, Outside) No school iPads Personal devices in library only

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT YOUR CHILD? -Have regular conversations with your child about their day; focus on feelings, confidence and understanding. -Help your child to paraphrase, to type, or to identify important ideas in various forms of media (books, tv, etc.). -Guide your child in locating research info. -Encourage your child to use their class time wisely by helping them engage with topics by frequently asking about what they are learning. -Encourage your child to take responsibility for all demonstrations of their learning, and for their behaviour at school. -Let finished products be a reflection of your child’s knowledge and creativity.
