Why does this rule exist?

Rules exist for 2 reasons: Safety Keep you and others from getting physically hurt Don’t pet the rhino No piggy-back rides up Angel Falls Keep you and others from getting emotionally hurt No bullying No “your mom” jokes Success Help you and others have a good outcome No cheating Be in your seat when the bell rings

Your Job: As a group, sort the cards I am giving you into two categories: rules created for safety, and rules created for your success. Discussion: Do we all agree on the answers? Do any fit into two categories? What other rules can you think of that were created for your safety or success?

Making Rules a Habit A “habit” is something you do even if no one is watching you. Habits can include brushing your teeth, holding the door for others, or wearing thick socks every day. Following rules should become habits, because we know they exist to help us have safety and success. If you follow rules even when no one is watching you, it is a sign of maturity and integrity
