HOW-TO Generate UVID UVID=Unique Voyage Identifier Proposed syntax in the testbed: urn:mrn:stm:voyage:id:<org>:<id> Proposed definition of Voyage in the testbed; ”The sea passage between two consecutive ports, without intermediate port calls. There is only one arrival port and one departure port in a typical voyage plan, the same goes for attributes start and end of sea passage.” UVID=y UVID=x

Syntax of UVID Proposed syntax in the testbed: urn:mrn:stm:voyage:id:<org>:<opt>_<id> Where <org> can be transas adveto wartsila furuno Where <opt> can be <Ship operator> <Ship owner> <Charterer> Human readable voyage id Where <id> can be GUID Date+time

WHO owns and generates the UVID Proposal: The UVID (as information/data) is owned by the same party that are responsible for the voyage and the planning of the voyage. The owner of the UVID should also be the party that generates the UVID. However, in the testbed where the ECDIS manufactures are deeply involved, there need to be a collaboration between the ECDIS manufacture and the ship operator.

WHEN generate UVID UVID shall be generated in planning phase of a voyage, and latest in planning of the route. Question: What if the ship needs to re-plan and set a new arrival port? Same UVID? Proposal: It will most likely still be the same voyage, hence same UVID. New UVID?

WHY generate UVID? To enable unified and unambiguous reference to a specific voyage to which the route plan and other information can relate to.

Example Ship sends its voyage plan with UVID=A to a service provider (such as route optimization). The service provider makes some changes in the voyage plan and sends the complete voyage plan back to ship. WHAT UVID shall be set in the response to the ship? Alt A Same UVID to correlate the changed proposal to a voyage? Alt B Different UVID to indicate that it’s a voyage plan made by a service provider? ALT A; Same UVID on a proposed new voyage plan for the ship

Example Ship sends its voyage plan with UVID=A to a service provider (such as Pilot Route Service or Winter Navigation Service). The service provider sends back one or several segments (snippets) back to ship to be merged into their voyage plan. WHAT UVID shall be set in the response to the ship? Alt A Same UVID to correlate the segments to a voyage? Alt B Different UVID to indicate that it is segments made by a service provider and not a complete route for the ship? ALT B; New UVID on the segments

Example Ship plans and sails a voyage between Stockholm – Helsinki and publish a voyage plan with UVID=A. Ship plans a reversed voyage back from Helsinki to Stockholm and publish that voyage plan. WHAT UVID shall be set on the voyage back to Stockholm? Alt A Same UVID to indicate that the voyage is from Stockholm – Helsinki - Stockholm? Alt B Different UVID on the voyage between Helsinki – Stockholm. The current definition is that a voyage is between two ports. ALT B; New UVID

Example Ship plans and sails a voyage between Stockholm – Helsinki with a short stop in Mariehamn, and publish a voyage plan. Shall the ship publish one or two voyage plans? Alt A Two voyage plans; UVID=A between Stockholm – Mariehamn, and UVID=B between Mariehamn – Helsinki. Alt B Two route plans; Stockholm – Mariehamn and Mariehamn – Helsinki, both referring to UVID=A Alt C One voyage plan; UVID=A between Stockholm – stay in Mariehamn – Helsinki. ALT A; Two voyage plans with different UVID

Example Ship plans and sails a voyage between Stockholm – Helsinki and publish a voyage plan with UVID=A. During the voyage, Helsinki port closes and ship need to re-plan to Åbo or Tallinn. WHAT UVID is set when arriving to Åbo/Tallinn? Alt A Same UVID to indicate that it is the same voyage but to a different port. New actors will be nominated. Alt B Different UVID on the new voyage between Stockholm – Åbo/Tallinn. The voyage to Helsinki is inactivated. Alt C Different UVID on the new voyage between the last passed waypoint to Åbo/Tallinn. The voyage to Helsinki is inactivated. ALT A; Same UVID or ??

Example Ship plans and sails a voyage between New York – Sweden and publish a voyage plan with UVID=A. During the voyage the cargo is sold and transferred to another ship. The ship then continues... WHAT UVID is set after the unloading? Alt A Same UVID to indicate that it is the same voyage until arrival to a port. Alt B The voyage is final when the cargo is sold and unloaded. A new UVID is set on the next route ALT A or B; Same UVID or ??

At the end – you could add text in black like ”Thank You !”
