Slides, slides, slides… Click on the Home tab. Click on New Slide to choose a specific new page format. Click and drag the slides on the left hand side to reorder them. On the left hand side you can see your slides numbered. Click on a slide to edit it. Press delete on your keyboard or right click Delete Slide to get rid of a slide. You can right click- copy and right click-paste a slide of your choice or click on a slide and press ctrl-d to duplicate it.

Word art! Insert… Click on the Insert tab. Click on any of the objects and go to the Format tab to edit it! Click on the Insert tab. You can insert… Pictures! Shapes! Clip Art! Word art! Text boxes! Audio!

Videos… Let’s say you want to put the first video on this page into a powerpoint presentation. http://wordpress.oise.utoronto.ca/diversityinteaching/projects/project-4/what-students-learn-about-themselves/ On the video, click where it says “Youtube” and it will direct you to the video on Youtube. Copy the URL into the presentation.

Design Click on the Design tab. How to make your Powerpoint presentation POP! They are much better than the ones in Powerpoint 2003. Click on the Design tab. Click the double down arrow to see all of the designs. Click on one to chose the theme. It will change the look and fonts of the entire presentation.

Let’s look at some! Transitions Click on the Transitions tab. Transitions are the movements between slides. Click on the Transitions tab. Click the double down arrow to see all of them. Click on one to apply it to how the current slide will open. On the right-hand side, you can click Apply To All to bring unity to your presentation. Let’s look at some!

There are simple ones…

The basic Cut.

A simple fade.

Push it!

Wipe the previous slide.

Or split it in two.

Magically reveal the next slide.

Or use random bars to chop it up.

Maybe you want a shape?

Or to uncover the hidden next slide?

I understand… you want it FUNKY I understand… you want it FUNKY! These are sure to get audience members on the edge of their seats… when used in moderation, of course.

Dissolve the slide!

Checkerboard-style!

Do you feel that ripple?

An impressive vortex.

Switch the slides.

Flip it over!

Turn the cube!

Open the door!

Zoom in!

You can edit transitions by clicking on “Effect Options” next to the list of transitions. This can change the colour, shape, fading, etc. of the transition.

Animations Consistency is key! Choose an animation and stick to it for that slide. You can edit the animation by clicking “Effect Options”. Animations are used to move items on the slide- entering, emphasizing, and leaving. 1. Click on a block of text, image, shape, etc. 2. Click on the Animations tab. 3. Click on the double down arrow and scroll down to view all animations. Notice that they are divided into Entrance, Emphasis, Exit, and Motion Path. 4. Click on an animation to apply it to the current item. It will start numbering each animation on the slide to determine the order in which the animations will occur. Click on the next item and apply an animation. 5. On the “Start” drop down, you can choose if the animation will start when the user clicks, with the previous animation, or after the previous animation.

Other Click here to play your presentation from the current slide.

Other Click on the Review tab. Click on ABC Spelling to spell check your text. Click on Research to access the dictionary, thesaurus, translator, and more. Click on Thesaurus to search synonyms. Click on Translate to translate selected text.
