Warm Up Directions: Use the graph to answer the questions that follow. How much money will Courtney have if she works 4 hours? How do you know? How much will she have after working 9 hours? How do you know? How could you find Courtney’s total after working 16 hours? What strategy did you use to find out?

Interpret Points in a Coordinate Grid Alignment Lesson

Find Day 52 “Interpret Points in a Coordinate Grid” Use the coordinate grid to answer the following questions:   Which ordered pair represents the location of the school? (7,4)   Which ordered pair represents the location of the park? (6,3) Which ordered pair represents the location of the library? (5,7)

“Interpret Points in a Coordinate Grid” Use the coordinate grid to answer the following questions:   Explain a possible path from the school to the library.   Possible Solutions: Travel 3 blocks north and then 2 blocks west. Travel 2 blocks west and then 3 blocks north. Go up 3 blocks and left 2 blocks. Go left 2 blocks and up 3 blocks. Up 1 square, back 1 square, up 1 square, back 1 square, then up 1 square.

Turn to pg 111 in Activity book or pg 363 in hard back book Study the grid at the top of the page What does each square represent? One city block You may work in pairs to answer questions 1-3. Discuss responses from questions 1-3.

With your partner… Use the same coordinate grid of Abdi’s community… Create at least 3 questions that can be answered using the grid. Use questions 1-3 as examples for the questions you should create. Once your questions are written, use Day 52 “Abdi’s Community Grid Recording Sheet” to create a worksheet for other students to complete using the questions you created. Leave the space between each question so another group in the class can answer your questions in that space. Once your worksheet is complete, trade worksheets with another group. Can you solve their problems?
